My favorite brookie fly is a variation of the infamous Elk Hair Caddis, its called CDC & Elk.
AND.....theyre not available through any fly shop that I'm aware of.
The pattern was originated by Hans Weilenmann from the Netherlands.

Hook: Dry Sz 12-16
Thread: 8/0 Tan
Body/Hackle: Type 1 CDC feather
Wing: Fine Tipped Deer Hair

Bright white and yellow dries seem to work great. But hey you're the guy making the flies, you tell me what works :D

And it's gonna take a whole hell of a lot of flies for a 550 ;) I got the rods and reels already :D

White: #14 Usual (tied with the fur from the heel of a snowshoe rabbits rear foot)....off white I guess. But floats like a cork all day. Couple false casts and youre back in action even after gettin slimed by a brookie.
Sorry, no pics of a Usual.......yet. I'll see what I can do about the pic.

Yellow: #12 Yellow Stimulator
Like this, only Yellow body & Orange head

In deez here parts -- brookies can't resist ya floating a worm around a bend or past a cut bank. Little bastards nail it every time.
