The town of Ossain, NY is having their annual Hillbilly Hay Days on Saturday, September 8th and they asked me if I would organize a chainsaw race. The race will be in addition to a number of other events including an outhouse race, hunting archery competition, a tractor pull (where the biggest boys see who can pull an old tractor on a rope the furthest), etc. It is a lot of fun.

The chainsaw races will consist of 5 classes and are being sponsored by none other than Sawhawgz!(right Jason!? LOL)

Classes are:

0-50cc stock, 0-50cc woods port, stock 50cc+, 50cc+woods port, and an open class. Entry fee will be $5 per class, per saw. There will also be a firewood splitting competition that will run throughout the day.

It will be a good time, there is good food, a lot of people, and a REAL good live country band.

Sounds like fun. Can you tell me the species and size of the wood? Thanks

I think it's gonna be basswood - we were gonna get a hold of Jack and see if he can't get his hands on any. It may end up being somehting else though.

I'm sure we'll have some 8x8's, 101x10's, 12x12's........

Be cool as hell if you and Nate were to come! :rock2:

Between Buzzing trees and firewood don't have any time for cutting cants.
I can chip in some $$ for some.

Doing a big White Pine on Elpot rd. in Naples soon but no way of moving the wood.

Jack I'll talk with Dan and we'll look into it - Thanks!

I have a couple cants I had made up last year - an 8x8 and a 10x10, both white pine. Would those be okay to throw in or would they be a little too dry by now....?? Had them done up at a sawmill last October or so.....

Got some pine and poplar for cants.

Ugh I don't know/have the addy but Dan has that info.

Prolly some 8x8s' and some 10x10's.

I'll be there with my XPW, it'll have a decent chain on it. :)

We can do whatever we want Nate and when I say 'we' that does include you.

Feel free to toss in any ideas or thoughts you have - this is the first saw racing event at the Hay Days, I'm sure we'll need some help with fine tuning the details!!

Over the block is easiest but we can definitely incorporate some cold startin' for sure. :yup:

The address for the Ossian Community Center is:

4760 Ossian Hill Rd, Dansville, NY.

The races will start about noon.

We have pine and poplar cants at 8x8 and 10x10.

There will also be a timed firewood splitting competition.

Should be fun!
