I need to remove the limiter caps on my 2152. Do the caps hold the needle in place or can I just cut them off and forget about it? If I need to keep them, how do you go about removing them without destroying them? Drywall screw?

Which carb do you have, the Zama? I just trim the tabs on the Zamas and leave the caps on. You can pull the tabs if you want- the adjustment needle has the tension spring and washers to keep it in place.

Yes, it's the zama. Thanks for the info. Off with the tabs! Am I imagining things or was there an issue with this carb? I might be thinking of the 2159.

Most likely you're thinking of the 2159/359/357/2156. The Walbro HDA199 had issues. Mastermoobs (Randy) doesn't like the Zama on those saws either and I agree, it's not a good carb. The Zama for the smaller saws (346/353/2150/2152) seems like a good one though.

I would trim the tabs if they're the red or black or white style caps. So much easier to adjust/tune with them still on there vs. removal, the head of the jet itself is tiny to allow the cap to be in place.
