Let's trow dis out there.

Who here has a square grinder?
Who here is willing to grind for other members here?
And I don't necessarily mean for free, these machines and wheels etc. ain't cheap.
Only post if you're willing.
If you have the time to do it, it may be a nice avenue to pay for some replacement grinding wheels, some extra beer money, some gas money to make it to a GTG you may not have gone to before.....

I know when I need/want chains done I will pay/trade/barter/work something out for it, definitely don't expect it for free, and wouldn't want it for free. What say ye?

I might be talked into doing that:rolleyes:

I like doing it actually. I won't consider porting saws for others but I'll do chains. I can even make a decent race chain sometimes

I was just thinking if I had a $700+ grinder, I wouldn't mind supplementing the ol' beer fund or grinder maintenance fund, or spare chain fund. But I don't have a grinder. And was curious as to whether others thought it was a good idea or not.

I'd like to try a couple chains from everyone out there to see the differences and what can be done with a chain.

If any one wants some done just pm me. I'm only home on weekends right now so I can turn a chain or two around in a weekend.

I'm in the same position. I can do the stock rebuilds for people in the winter when I'm not fighting fires and of course grind chains.

I recently got a Zeigelmeyer grinder which is on par with the Silvey Pro-Sharp (better than a Pro-Sharp though because it's a water-cooled grinder.)
The Zeigelmeyers new were about $3k. Mine has the air-operated water system and the air-operated foot control.

I'd be happy to grind chains up for free. Postage is going to be the killer on that deal.

Well you won't get mine that easy. The only way mine will leave is if a pro sharp shows up.:p

I'm wanting to acquire a razor sharp II......I have saws to trade or port work, and of course cash. :)

I might be able to set you up with a Simington 450B swing-arm chisel grinder if you want to go that route.

I would probably go ahead and spend $100 more and get a new one either a silvey or simington.:happywink:

They can be had for $60 less than asking price if you don't want the stand and it saves about $25 in shipping.:D
