Stihl 031 with odd chain brake

I'm fixing a 031 for a friend of mine, he bought it at a yardsale last summer for 15$



It looks to have a standard chain brake until you pop the clutch cover off.
The clutch actually is disengaged from the motor and is more like a neutral gear when the
lever is pushed forward. And to the get the chain to spin you pull the lever back.
Never seen one of these before.

Sure is weird. I have a 031 with a standard chain brake here, thought it was odd it even had a brake lol

Yeah seeing a 031 a chain brake is weird enough, about 1 outta 10 have those.
This contraption works slick, guess it didn't meet safety codes and since it doesn't stop the
chain it just removes power from it.

I'll clean my bench of so I can run you through some of the "real nice features" of this saw.
It's a very popular saw for cutting firewood, and even has chisel bit chain.

I bet that saw would be of value to a Stihl collector. Just to be a nice guy, I will appraise the value of $600 just to help out the would be collector....
